Thorsten Wegener, Director Business Operations Studio 100: “Excellently positioned”

The 77th Festival de Cannes will open its doors in one day. In a small survey, we asked Cannes travelers what they expect from this year’s A-festival in the South of France. Thorsten Wegener, Director Business Operations Studio 100, takes a look at this year’s edition.

The 77th Festival de Cannes and its Marché are just around the corner. Do you think it will be a good year? Is there a film you are particularly looking forward to?

Thorsten Wegener: The Marché du Film 2024 promises to be a very good vintage! Studio 100 Film is coming to Cannes with a new project, „Dougie Dolittle„. We’re really looking forward to this film, which Studio 100 International is producing together with Caligari Film, Studio Isar Animation and 3 Doubles Producciones. We want to continue on the path we recently took with „Giants of La Mancha“ in terms of quality and a broader target group. The film is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026.

We are also bringing a more varied and larger portfolio of films to the Croisette than ever before. With „200% Wolf„, „Miss Moxy“ and „North„, as well as „Flamingo Flamenco“ and „On the Edge: Donnie Dares!„, which are currently in pre-production, we are in an excellent position this year.

What are your expectations and what’s on your schedule?

Thorsten Wegener: We would like to continue the positive experiences and successes we have had at the various previous trade fairs in Cannes. We are very curious to see the reactions to the first animation scenes of „North“ and „Miss Moxy“, which we are presenting in our office at Gray d’Albion.

My diary already looks very full. Both our Sales Executive Lorena Booth and I are almost fully booked with sales meetings, which is definitely a good sign.
